Mission Statement Welcome to Stella Maris Roman Church Sunday School, "Building a Foundation in Christ". It is a structured learning program which reinforces the skills the child is learning in school, while learning about God, creation, self and the wonder of life. We presently have three levels. They are the Tiny Tots (Pre-School, Kindergarten & Pre-Communion), Communion (Communion 1, 2 & 3, and Post Communion 1 & 2) and Confirmation (Pre - Confirmation 1 & 2, 1st year & 2nd Year Confirmation, Confirmation and Post Confirmation). Classes run from 11:15 a.m. -12:30 p.m. beginning in on September 5, 2011 through July 3, 2012 (approximately 37 weeks). Regular attendance is mandatory in order to ensure communication of lesson objectives. Each week, the child will bring home work on what was done during the class that day, we ask that you also check on these home work. One of our main goals is to further parent/child interaction, so we strongly encourage you to become involved with extending the lesson into your family’s daily life. Incorporated into the Sunday School program are a few structured activities -- our Inter-House Quiz, Easter Movie Matinee, Sports Day, Father's Fun Day and our Parent's Workshop. These additional activities enhance the program while giving the children the opportunity to express themselves in creativity. Report cards will be issued at the end of the year. This is not a graded report card, but a progress report on the child’s understanding of the materials being presented, behaviour and effort in class. These reports have proven to be beneficial in determining student readiness and providing direction to the parents. This report systems will also let the teachers know if the children are ready to move on to the next stage. Also the readiness to receive the sacraments of Holy First Communion and Confirmation. So I hope our kids enjoy this years Sunday School program and, if there is any thing that we can do to assist their growth in The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit, we will be more that happy to help.
