MORAL DEVELOPMENT – LIFE IN CHRISTMoral is our response to God who loved us first. As His children, we desire to live as God has asked. The moral life is not an arbitrary list of rules. Living life as God reveals is living a fully In Communion Year 1, the child should: 1. Be aware of his/her own uniqueness and the uniqueness of each person whom God has created. 2. Be aware that God is the Giver of life in creation.
4. Know that family and friends are a way of knowing God’s love. 5. Know that helping, sharing and being kind to others are ways of imitating Jesus. 6. Realize that he/she is responsible for decisions and actions in caring for God’s gift of creation. 7. Memorize the Ten Commandments. Know that they are a gift from God. Understand their meaning in a manner that applies to their life. 8. Know that there are right choices (good) and wrong choices (bad). ![]() 9. Understand that wrong choices are called sins. These break our relationship with God. Understand that good choices are called virtues. These help our relationship with God grow. 10. Be aware of the need to forgive (others) and/or ask forgiveness (from God and others). Practice using the phrases, “I forgive you” and “I’m sorry.” 11. Know that even if others don’t forgive them, God always forgives when we are sorry. 12. Enjoy the stories of the saints and of good modern day Christians as models of living the Gospel values. 13. Know that they should tell others about Jesus and His Family, the Church. (Evangelization) |
